Aug. 1st, 2006 12:09 amI'm home, yay! And I was the one who drove, at almost midnight, first time driving on a highway with Speed Limit 65. You guys might recall, I drive stick, which meant it took longer for me to get to drive on the highway, because first I had to learn how not to stall out or grind gears, and when to shift up or shift down, etc etc. So yay me.
And I can't wait to be in math class and pull out my new slide-rule instead of my calculator. Well, not new, per say, since I got it from my grandpa, but new to me...now if I can just learn to use it properly....my grandpa's explanation was pretty muddled.
But most of all, I'm looking forward to having real conversations without people getting mad about what they think you're saying, or someone trying to convince me to eat something I've told them a hundred times I don't like, and no, it doesn't matter if it's sliced, or cooked differently, or whatever, I don't like it, and no trying to convince someone to go to see the doctor early because their memory pills aren't working, and being told "I have an appointment in September," or "the doctor put me on pills," and not being able to have them see the sense in talking to the doctor before that because, like I said, those pills aren't working, getting those same two responses again, and again, and again, and no having to repeat something a million times because those pills aren't working, and still having them not remember, especially when it's in the game that you keep playing because you really should be having time as a family, and it's really the only way to remain civil....
wow. long sentence. I apologize for that.
I mean, I love my grandparents, but, as an example, it's really hard to continue smiling when your grandma is talking about, "Remember that fat girl who was your [my mom's] roommate, and the two of you took us out? That fat one? And she had her sweater tied around her waist. I was really embarrassed to be seen walking around with her. I was cringing inside...." and so on and so forth.
Gods, it's good to be home.
